New Card Art - The Magician
over 6 years ago – Sat, Dec 02, 2017 at 12:28:32 AM

A happy belated Thanksgiving and newly minted December to you all!

We've got some new card art for you (and a handful of others just waiting to be revealed). Designed by the amazing Adrianne , the Magician symbolizes the bridge between the spirit and the material world, and a mastery of the elements, with a fully mature understanding and grasp of one's powers. Signifying resourcefulness and power, The Magician is positioned to manifest his will upon the world. As Haggard's magician's magician on retainer, Mabruk possesses great power and a master of his art; no vagrant, nameless, clownish apprentice here, Mabruk is the embodiment of prowess in the mystical.

Adrianne deftly captures the flow of mystical energy in the hands of an expert wizard, controlling all four elements, and wielding the staff that is the symbol of authority over magical forces. For your viewing pleasure - The Magician!

Some housekeeping:

Pins will likely not make it *quite* in time for Christmas - they'll probably ship early January at this point. We have most of the designs done, but the final three or four designs will need just a little more time. We'll have them all entering production shortly, but (as I'm sure you all know) the holiday season just bogs everything down, for production and shipping times. We'll let you know when they're finishing up and start doing surveys for shipping as we approach that date!

BackerKit is almost ready to go live. We've been out of town for conventions and knee deep in holiday prep for Geekify's busiest time of year, but we'll be rolling that out presently (with an update announcing it).

As a reminder, if you want to do some holiday shopping for that special geek in your life, check out our newly remodeled website at www.geekifyinc.com . We love doing custom orders of all kinds, so send us your special requests!

New Card Concept Art and Keychain Sneak Peek
over 6 years ago – Thu, Nov 09, 2017 at 10:32:22 PM

Good evening, all you beaus and belles,

We've got a little bit of new concept art to throw your way - The Tower! Adrianne nails this concept with the crumbling castle of Haggard in the background, as the unicorns surge forward, returning to the far corners of the earth. She also has an amazing new website if you want to check out some of her other work, and she's currently running a sale on her prints, if you need an artistic masterpiece for your wall!

The Tower
The Tower

Traditionally The Tower represents ambition built on false premises, upheaval, sudden changes, and destruction on a physical level. The imposing yet tenuous hold of the castle on the crumbling bluff reminds us of the impermanence of all things.

Keychains

As we'd mentioned, we're moving full steam ahead with a ton of other Last Unicorn projects as well. We'll probably have a run of keychains ready to ship in the January / February timeframe. Here's a peek at the Unicorn and Schmendrick in profile before they get modeled up and molded.

We've got artists separate from the Tarot deck working on everything else (so no worries about the deck team getting distracted by these other projects!), and a HUGE thank you to everyone that reached out to us and sent us portfolios. You guys are all wickedly talented, and we're hanging on to resumes with future projects in mind after this next round of goodies.

So, a question for you all - how do you want to see new merch handled? Do you want another Kickstarter with products in batches? Pre-orders directly on our website? We kind of loved the roller coaster of this campaign, but Kickstarter campaigns are a lot of work, and basically function as a limited time pre-order platform, in exchange for a crazy rush to get in the door and a lot of publicity. Thoughts and comments welcome!

Funding Received, and New Card Concept Art!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Nov 03, 2017 at 09:17:53 PM

Greetings all!

Funding Received

Just wanted to let you know that funding has been received and that things are moving forward at a rapid pace over here at Geekify. The engine of production has begun its mighty churn - we'll be starting pin production as soon as we finalize and tweak the designs, and art development is moving along nicely. We're months out from deck production, but we're keeping tabs on all the moving parts and getting excited to see things begin in earnest.

New Concept Art

I've been reviewing some of the latest concept art from the artists and am quite pleased with the results. We've got another half dozen cards in development right now. Here's a sneak peek at the latest Four of Cups.

Other Projects:

Additionally, we have posters (a mountain of them), keychains, plushes, mugs, scarves, Haggard coins, and blankets in active development. We will keep you updated with that, but since it's independent of the tarot deck, we'll be sparing with the details in the Tarot Deck Kickstarter updates, short of major developments or release announcements. Here's a teaser of one of the more involved projects we've got underway right now...

What could this be?
What could this be?

Peter S. Beagle

Since funding has cleared, we're also making good on our pledge to allocate a portion of the proceeds to the author. While as we've mentioned before that we're not revealing the amount, it's not an insignificant sum, and we are honored to be able to send this as a token of our gratitude to Peter S. Beagle. We have decided that we will also continue this pledge for our other projects as well, to ensure that he continues to benefit from our efforts and your support. Viva la Beagle!

(Additionally, if any fans out there want to make a kickass little logo for the Beagle Pledge, we'd love to post it on our campaign and product pages. Who knows, maybe other creators will want to follow our lead and use it as well!)

BackerKit Status:

Nothing to report on here just yet - the BackerKit phase will probably initialize sometime around Thanksgiving or so, and we'll be doing backer surveys and getting addresses from you around that point (the closer to our ship date, the better - people tend to move around a lot)

That's all for now! Hope you've all had a wonderful Halloween, and happy Friday!

Pledge Deadlines!
over 6 years ago – Thu, Oct 26, 2017 at 06:09:37 PM

Just some quick housekeeping - we're approaching the final time that pledges can be collected, so please make sure to update your card information or bank info ASAP so your pledges can be collected, otherwise Kickstarter will eject you from the list and you'll be removed from the surveys.

Some of you have contacted us to make special arrangements, and we'll make sure you're taken care of (though we'll probably need reminders).

If you missed the campaign:

We will have a grace period once the BackerKit opens to have many pledge levels available at the Kickstarter pricing, so if you missed the campaign, you'l have an opportunity to get the original tiers in pricing.

Right now it's still a little fuzzy as to when we can begin the BackerKit phase, but ballparking for around mid/late November

It's now snowing in Colorado, so hope your Halloween weekend is warmer than ours, and full of safe, awesome fun!

Artists Wanted!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 24, 2017 at 12:59:40 AM

Hey all!

So we'd mentioned we're working on a lot of other Last Unicorn stuff, and in addition to the tarot deck, we're currently looking for a few artists for both digital 2D and 3D work for some of those other projects. Our team has their hands full doing card art, so we've got our eyes peeled for some talented artists to do some additional design work for a number of different projects and products, and what better place to tap talent than right here! If you (or anyone you know) is good with scenes and backgrounds, and / or character art, and can be true to the style of the movie art, then drop us a line at info at geekifyinc dot com with some references or your portfolio.

We'd love to work with some of you other fans in bringing some other amazing things to life!
